There are a few ways to contribute as a volunteer, mainly via the organising committee.
Organising committee
The organising committee is ideally made up of a co-chair representing RSE Asia, a co-chair representing RSE Australia New Zealand, a secretary, and two regular organising commitee memebers. These roles have honorariums associated with them.
There is also the ability for people to volunteer as observers and session chairs. These roles do not have honorariums associated with them.
Expectations of the Co-Chair
The expectations of the Co-Chairs are:
- To represent RSE Asia and RSE AU-NZ to the wider community and to external stakeholders
- To guide the organising committee volunteers to a successful RSEAA event
- To attend the weekly organising meetings
- To ensure that the organising committee is operating in a good, working environment that benefits the volunteers as well as the community
- To liaise and build relationships with external stakeholders to help improve the RSEAA experience
- To uphold the Code of Conduct of the RSE-AUNZ association
- To execute tasks that are needed for more nuanced, layered stakeholder management
- To ensure that the processes for the RSEAA24 event is documented and improved every year
- To ensure that the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion of the event is up to the highest standard possible, given the resources and time available
Expectations of the secretary
The expectations of the secretary are:
- To represent the RSEAA organising commitee to the wider community and to external stakeholders
- To organise and attend the weekly meetings to help create a successful RSEAA event
- To keep the project management software up to date
- To follow up key tasks in between meetings
- To execute tasks that are delegated by the organising committee
- To organise and update the website and other documentation
- To help administer scholarship and micro-grants
- To ensure that the organising committee is operating in a good, working environment that benefits the volunteers as well as the community
- To uphold the Code of Conduct of the RSE-AUNZ association
- To ensure that the processes for the RSEAA24 event is documented and improved every year
- To ensure that the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion of the event is up to the highest standard possible, given the resources and time available
Expectations of session chairs
The expectations of the session chairs are:
- To represent the wider community of RSEs during the event
- To introduce the event’s session and facilitate attendees participation
- To tally up the attendees votes
- To direct participants to the breakout rooms
Expectations of poster judges
The expectations of the poster judges are:
- To represent the wider community of RSEs
- To review each poster and ask questions if needed
- To identify outstanding posters from the event
Expectations of the observers
The expectations of the observers are:
- To represent the wider community of RSEs
- To attend meetings when convenient to the observer, as they will not be expected to turn up to any meeting
- To make suggestions by email if convenient to the observer
- To not be involved in any tasks - this will be done by members of the organising committee
- To ensure that the organising committee is operating in a good, working environment that benefits the volunteers as well as the community
- To uphold the Code of Conduct of the RSE-AUNZ association

The expectations of the regular organising committee members are:
- To represent the RSEAA organising commitee to the wider community and to external stakeholders
